Targeting Barra

While there are never any guarantees that Barramundi are going to get caught, we give it a bloody good crack. There are so many different factors that come into play when targeting barramundi. The tides, the moon, the water temperature, the amount of rain we receive, what way the wind is blowing, your lures, the time of day and of course the time of year. Due to the drop of water temperature in the Dry Season (May – August) Barramundi are less active. Between September and March Barramundi spawn. As the eggs and larvae require saltwater, spawning will occur in river mouths and bays. One single female can spawn up to 32 million eggs during this time. As the water temperature is up to 10 degrees warmer during these months, the Barramundi activity increases. Making the ‘build up’ and the ‘runoff’ the better times of year for targeting these beautiful fish.
