The Timor Box sits northwest of Darwin, running to the Western Australia/Northern Territory border and out to the outer boundary of the Australian fishing zone, 200 nautical miles offshore. The fishery covers approximately 8,400 square nautical miles of deep sea and reef country.
What can you catch in the Timor Box?
Deep water fishing here targets ruby snapper and gold band snapper, with coral trout found near the shoals. Mackerel and dogtooth tuna round out the mixed bag on offer this far offshore.
How do you fish the Timor Box with Humbug Fishing?
Given the distance involved, Timor Box charters suit trips of 5 or more days. You can fish it two ways. Live aboard Starfire on an extended liveaboard charter, with the mothership as your base for the length of the trip, or bring your own boat on a tag-along charter and use the mothership as your accommodation each night. Our team will work with you on the target species and the plan for each day.
